Polo Bar - located opposite Liverpool Street Station since 1959

THE YEAR IS 1953 AND MY AUNTIE BRUNA INZANI AND HER HUSBAND OPENED WHAT THEY THEN NAMED THE MARCO POLO BAR OPPOSITE LIVERPOOL STREET STATION, A NAME WHICH HAS STUCK FOR OVER 50 YEARS.

EVEN BACK THEN SHE WAS MAKING AND SERVING GREAT BRITISH CAFÉ FARE MAKING A NAME FOR HERSELF AROUND THE TRADITIONAL ENGLISH BREAKFAST AND GOOD HOME-MADE FOOD.

We still make everything in-house and buy only the best ingredients, mainly British, which defines the high standard we keep to which hungry Londoners have come to know and love.

Today Polo Bar, The Great British Cafe, is open 24 hours-a-day, serves alcohol 24 hours-a-day, and provides a refuge in the City 24 hours-a-day, for everyone from bankers, to bobbies, to brokers, to clubbers and tourists – a whole host of different people.

That’s what is great about Polo Bar, the diversity of people that come in through the door – well we don’t actually have one!!

Now in 2018 our little café is spread over three floors and helping to fuel London 24/7 and we couldn’t be prouder.

We do hope that this little iconic cafe in the heart of the City of London, with it’s great history, great following, and of course a great team behind it, will go from strength to strength, and that the site in Bishopsgate (that’s the name of the road – not many people know that) is the first of many to come.
